Relevant Legal Bases
Relevant Legal Bases under the GDPR: Below you will find an overview of the legal bases of the GDPR upon which we process personal data. Please note that in addition to the provisions of the GDPR, national data protection regulations may apply in your or our country of residence or domicile. Should more specific legal bases apply in individual cases, we will inform you of these in the privacy policy.
-
Consent (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a GDPR) - The data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes.
-
Performance of a contract and pre-contractual inquiries (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b GDPR) - Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.
-
Legal obligation (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. c GDPR) - Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.
-
Legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. f GDPR) - Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data.
National Data Protection Regulations in Germany: In addition to the data protection regulations of the GDPR, national regulations on data protection apply in Germany. This includes, in particular, the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). The BDSG contains specific rules on the right to access, the right to erasure, the right to object, the processing of special categories of personal data, processing for other purposes, and transmission, as well as automated individual decision-making, including profiling. Furthermore, state data protection laws of the individual federal states may apply.
Note on the Applicability of the GDPR and the Swiss FADP: This privacy policy serves to provide information in accordance with both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For this reason, we ask you to note that due to its broader spatial application and general comprehensibility, the terms of the GDPR are used. In particular, instead of the terms used in the Swiss FADP such as "processing" of "personal data", "overriding interest", and "sensitive personal data", the terms used in the GDPR, namely "processing" of "personal data", "legitimate interest", and "special categories of data", are used. However, the legal meaning of the terms will continue to be determined in accordance with the Swiss FADP within the scope of the applicability of the Swiss FADP.
Security Measures
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures in accordance with the legal requirements, taking into account the state of the art, the costs of implementation, and the nature, scope, context, and purposes of processing, as well as the risk of varying likelihood and severity for the rights and freedoms of natural persons, in order to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk.
The measures include, in particular, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data by controlling physical and electronic access to the data as well as access, input, transmission, securing availability, and its separation. Furthermore, we have established procedures to ensure the exercise of data subject rights, the deletion of data, and responses to data threats. We also consider the protection of personal data in the development or selection of hardware, software, and procedures, in accordance with the principle of data protection by design and by default.
Truncation of the IP Address: If IP addresses are processed by us or by the service providers and technologies deployed and the processing of a full IP address is not required, the IP address is truncated (also referred to as "IP masking"). Here, the last two digits or the last part of the IP address after a period are removed or replaced by placeholders. The truncation of the IP address is intended to prevent or significantly impede the identification of a person based on their IP address.
Securing Online Connections using TLS/SSL Encryption Technology (HTTPS): To protect the data of users transmitted via our online services from unauthorized access, we rely on TLS/SSL encryption technology. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) are the cornerstones of secure data transmission on the internet. These technologies encrypt the information transmitted between the website or app and the user's browser (or between two servers), thereby protecting the data from unauthorized access. TLS, as the advanced and more secure version of SSL, ensures that all data transmissions meet the highest security standards. If a website is secured by an SSL/TLS certificate, this is signaled by the display of HTTPS in the URL. This serves as an indicator to users that their data is being transmitted securely and encrypted.
Transmission of Personal Data
In the course of our processing of personal data, it may happen that this data is transferred to or disclosed to other bodies, companies, legally independent organizational units, or persons. The recipients of this data may include, for example, service providers commissioned with IT tasks or providers of services and content that are integrated into a website. In such cases, we comply with the legal requirements and, in particular, conclude corresponding contracts or agreements that serve to protect your data with the recipients of your data.
International Data Transfers
Data Processing in Third Countries: If we transfer data to a third country (i.e., outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA)) or if this occurs in the context of using third-party services or disclosing or transferring data to other persons, entities, or companies (which becomes recognizable from the postal address of the respective provider or if the privacy policy expressly refers to the data transfer to third countries), this is always done in accordance with legal requirements.
For data transfers to the USA, we primarily rely on the Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which was recognized as a secure legal framework by an adequacy decision of the EU Commission on July 10, 2023. In addition, we have concluded Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with the respective providers, which meet the requirements of the EU Commission and establish contractual obligations to protect your data.
This dual safeguard ensures comprehensive protection of your data: The DPF forms the primary level of protection, while the Standard Contractual Clauses serve as additional security. Should changes occur within the framework of the DPF, the Standard Contractual Clauses act as a reliable fallback option. In this way, we ensure that your data always remains adequately protected even in the event of any political or legal changes.
For the individual service providers, we inform you whether they are certified under the DPF and whether Standard Contractual Clauses are in place. Further information on the DPF and a list of certified companies can be found on the website of the US Department of Commerce at https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/ (in English).
For data transfers to other third countries, appropriate security measures apply, in particular Standard Contractual Clauses, explicit consent, or legally required transfers. Information on third-country transfers and applicable adequacy decisions can be found on the EU Commission's information portal: https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/international-dimension-data-protection_en?prefLang=de.
General Information on Data Storage and Deletion
We delete personal data that we process in accordance with statutory provisions as soon as the underlying consents are revoked or no further legal bases for the processing exist. This applies to cases where the original processing purpose ceases to apply or the data is no longer required. Exceptions to this rule exist if legal obligations or special interests require longer retention or archiving of the data.
In particular, data that must be retained for commercial or tax law reasons, or whose storage is necessary for legal enforcement or for the protection of the rights of other natural or legal persons, must be archived accordingly.
Our privacy notices contain additional information on the retention and deletion of data that applies specifically to certain processing activities.
If there are multiple specifications for the retention period or deletion deadlines for a datum, the longest period is always decisive. We process data that is no longer retained for its originally intended purpose, but due to legal requirements or other reasons, exclusively for the reasons that justify its retention.
Retention and Deletion of Data: The following general periods apply to retention and archiving under German law:
-
10 Years - Retention period for books and records, annual financial statements, inventories, management reports, opening balance sheets, as well as working instructions and other organizational documents required to understand them (§ 147 (1) No. 1 in conjunction with (3) AO, § 257 (1) No. 1 in conjunction with (4) HGB).
-
8 Years - Accounting vouchers, such as invoices and cost receipts (§ 147 (1) No. 4 and 4a in conjunction with (3) sentence 1 AO, § 14b (1) UStG and § 257 (1) No. 4 in conjunction with (4) HGB).
-
6 Years - Other business documents: received commercial or business letters, reproductions of dispatched commercial or business letters, other documents insofar as they are of importance for taxation, e.g., hourly wage slips, business accounting sheets, calculation documents, price tags, but also payroll accounting documents, insofar as they are not already accounting vouchers, and cash register strips (§ 147 (1) No. 2, 3, 5 in conjunction with (3) AO, § 257 (1) No. 2 and 3 in conjunction with (4) HGB).
-
3 Years - Data required to consider potential warranty and damage claims or similar contractual claims and rights, as well as to process related inquiries based on past business experiences and customary industry practices, will be stored for the duration of the regular statutory limitation period of three years (§§ 195, 199 BGB).
Start of Period at the End of the Year: If a period does not expressly begin on a specific date and is at least one year long, it automatically starts at the end of the calendar year in which the event triggering the period occurred. In the case of ongoing contractual relationships in the context of which data is stored, the event triggering the period is the time the termination or other end of the legal relationship takes effect.
Rights of the Data Subjects
Rights of the Data Subjects under the GDPR: As a data subject, you have various rights under the GDPR, arising in particular from Art. 15 to 21 GDPR:
-
Right to Object: You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. e or f GDPR; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. Where personal data concerning you are processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such marketing; this also applies to profiling to the extent that it is related to such direct marketing.
-
Right of Withdrawal of Consent: You have the right to revoke any consents granted at any time.
-
Right of Access: You have the right to request confirmation as to whether data in question is being processed and to request information about this data as well as further information and a copy of the data in accordance with legal requirements.
-
Right to Rectification: You have the right, in accordance with legal requirements, to request the completion of the data concerning you or the rectification of inaccurate data concerning you.
-
Right to Erasure and Restriction of Processing: In accordance with legal requirements, you have the right to demand that data concerning you be deleted immediately, or alternatively, to demand a restriction of the processing of the data in accordance with legal requirements.
-
Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive the data concerning you, which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format in accordance with legal requirements, or to demand its transmission to another controller.
-
Complaint to a Supervisory Authority: Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR. The complaint may, in particular, be lodged with a supervisory authority in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
Business Services
We process personal data of our contractual and business partners, such as customers, clients, prospects, suppliers, and other cooperation partners (collectively "Contractual Partners"), for the initiation, implementation, and processing of contractual relationships and comparable legal relationships. This also includes pre-contractual measures taken upon request, as well as communication related to the respective contractual relationship.
The processing serves in particular the fulfillment of our primary and secondary contractual obligations. This includes providing the agreed services, any update and information obligations, handling warranty and other performance disruptions, processing revocations, terminating continuing obligations, reversing transactions, issuing refunds, as well as processing other contract-related declarations and inquiries. This covers both one-off contracts and ongoing contractual relationships.
In particular, master data such as name, address, and, if applicable, company name, contact details such as e-mail address and telephone number, contract and service data such as subject of the contract, contract term, order or transaction number, usage and service data, payment and billing data, as well as communication contents and histories are processed. To the extent necessary, we also process data disclosed or transmitted to us in the course of executing an order.
In addition, we process the data to protect our rights and to fulfill legal obligations. This includes, in particular, retention obligations under commercial and tax law, documentation obligations, and, if applicable, verification and accountability obligations. Furthermore, processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests in a proper business management, internal administration, risk management, and IT security, as well as in the protection of our business operations and our Contractual Partners against abuse, threats to data, secrets, and other legal rights. This may also include integrating external service providers such as IT and telecommunications providers, transport and logistics companies, payment service providers, banks, tax and legal advisors, or other vicarious agents, to the extent necessary for contract implementation or to fulfill legal obligations.
A transfer of personal data to third parties is only carried out to the extent necessary for the fulfillment of the contract, for carrying out pre-contractual measures, to protect legitimate interests, or to fulfill legal obligations. We provide separate information regarding further processing, in particular for marketing purposes, within the scope of this privacy policy.
We inform the Contractual Partners during data collection which data is required in individual cases, for example in online forms through appropriate marking or in personal contact.
The deletion of the data takes place as soon as they are no longer required for the aforementioned purposes and no statutory retention obligations conflict with this. Statutory retention periods, especially under commercial and tax law, may require longer storage. Data that was transmitted in the context of a specific order will be deleted after the completion of the order and the expiration of any retention periods, provided no further legal or contractual obligations to store it exist.
The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR for the implementation of pre-contractual measures and for the fulfillment of the respective contractual relationship, as well as Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR for the fulfillment of legal obligations. Insofar as the processing is based on legitimate interests, it is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Insofar as the processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR, it is carried out to safeguard our legitimate interests in a proper and efficient business organization, the internal administration and documentation of business transactions, the enforcement and defense of legal claims, the ensuring of IT and data security, the prevention of abuse and fraud, as well as the economic management and further development of our business operations. These interests exist in particular in guaranteeing a secure and legally compliant business operation as well as in safeguarding our entrepreneurial capability to act.

Use of Cookies
The term "cookies" is understood to mean functions that store information on users' end devices and read it from them. Cookies may also be used for different purposes, for example for the functionality, security, and comfort of online offers as well as for creating analyses of visitor flows. We use cookies in accordance with legal regulations. For this, we obtain the users' consent in advance where required. If consent is not required, we rely on our legitimate interests. This applies when storing and reading information is essential to provide explicitly requested content and functions. This includes, for example, the storing of settings and ensuring the functionality and security of our online offer. Consent can be revoked at any time. We provide clear information about the scope and which cookies are used.
Notes on data protection legal bases: Whether we process personal data using cookies depends on consent. If consent is given, this serves as the legal basis. Without consent, we rely on our legitimate interests, which are explained above in this section and in the context of the respective services and procedures.
Storage Duration: Regarding the storage duration, the following types of cookies are distinguished:
-
Temporary Cookies (also: session cookies): Temporary cookies are deleted at the latest after a user leaves an online offer and has closed his or her end device (e.g., browser or mobile application).
-
Permanent Cookies: Permanent cookies remain stored even after closing the end device. Thus, for example, the login status can be saved and preferred content can be displayed directly when the user visits a website again. The user data collected with the help of cookies can also be used for reach measurement. Provided we do not provide users with explicit information on the type and storage duration of cookies (e.g., in the context of obtaining consent), they should assume that these are permanent and the storage duration can be up to two years.
General Information on Revocation and Objection (Opt-out): Users can revoke their given consents at any time and also declare an objection to the processing in accordance with legal requirements, including by means of their browser's privacy settings.

Further Information on Processing Activities, Procedures, and Services:
-
Processing of Cookie Data based on Consent: We employ a consent management solution in which users' consent is obtained for the use of cookies or the procedures and providers named within the consent management solution. This procedure serves to obtain, log, manage, and revoke consents, especially related to the use of cookies and comparable technologies utilized to store, read, and process information on the users' end devices. Under this procedure, users' consents are obtained for the use of cookies and the associated processing of information, including the specific processing and providers listed in the consent management procedure. Users also have the option to manage and revoke their consents. The declarations of consent are stored to avoid querying again and to be able to provide proof of consent according to legal requirements. Storage takes place on the server side and/or in a cookie (so-called opt-in cookie) or via comparable technologies to be able to assign the consent to a specific user or their device. Provided no specific information is available on the providers of consent management services, the following general instructions apply: The storage duration of the consent is up to two years. A pseudonymous user identifier is created, which is stored together with the time of consent, the details of the scope of consent (e.g., relevant categories of cookies and/or service providers), as well as information about the browser, system, and end device used; Legal Bases: Consent (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a GDPR).
-

Registration, Login, and User Account
Users can create a user account. Within the scope of registration, users are informed of the required mandatory information, which is processed for the purpose of providing the user account based on contractual fulfillment. The processed data includes, in particular, login information (username, password, and an e-mail address).
In the context of using our registration and login functions as well as the use of the user account, we store the IP address and the time of the respective user action. The storage is based on our legitimate interests as well as those of the users in protection against abuse and other unauthorized use. A transfer of this data to third parties generally does not take place unless it is necessary for the pursuit of our claims or there is a legal obligation to do so.
Users may be informed by e-mail about processes relevant to their user account, such as technical changes.
-
Processed Data Types: Master data (e.g., full name, residential address, contact information, customer number, etc.); Contact data (e.g., postal and e-mail addresses or phone numbers); Content data (e.g., textual or visual messages and contributions as well as information relating to them, such as authorship details or time of creation); Usage data (e.g., page views and time spent, click paths, usage intensity and frequency, device types and operating systems used, interactions with content and functions); Log data (e.g., log files regarding logins or the retrieval of data or access times).
-
Data Subjects: Users (e.g., website visitors, users of online services).
-
Purposes of Processing and Legitimate Interests: Provision of contractual services and fulfillment of contractual obligations; Security measures; Organizational and administrative procedures; Provision of our online offer and user-friendliness.
-
Retention and Deletion: Deletion in accordance with specifications in the section "General Information on Data Retention and Deletion". Deletion after termination.
-
Legal Bases: Performance of a contract and pre-contractual inquiries (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b GDPR); Legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. f GDPR).
Further Information on Processing Activities, Procedures, and Services:
-
Users' profiles are not public: The profiles of the users are not publicly visible and not accessible.
-
Two-Factor Authentication: Two-factor authentication offers an additional layer of security for your user account and ensures that only you can access your account, even if someone else knows your password. For this purpose, you must carry out a further authentication measure in addition to your password (e.g., entering a code sent to a mobile device). We will inform you about the procedure we use; Legal Bases: Performance of a contract and pre-contractual inquiries (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b GDPR).
-
Deletion of Data after Termination: If users have terminated their user account, their data relating to the user account will be deleted, subject to a statutory permission, obligation, or consent of the users; Legal Bases: Performance of a contract and pre-contractual inquiries (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b GDPR).
Single Sign-On Authentication
"Single Sign-On" or "Single Sign-On login or authentication" refers to procedures that allow users to log in to our online offer using a user account with a provider of single sign-on procedures (e.g., a social network). A prerequisite for single sign-on authentication is that users are registered with the respective single sign-on provider and enter the required access data in the online form provided for this purpose, or are already logged in to the single sign-on provider and confirm the single sign-on registration via a button.
Authentication takes place directly with the respective single sign-on provider. During such an authentication, we receive a user ID with the information that the user is logged in under this user ID at the respective single sign-on provider, and an ID (so-called "User Handle") that is not usable by us for other purposes. Whether additional data is transmitted to us depends solely on the single sign-on procedure used, the data releases chosen during authentication, and furthermore on which data users have released in the privacy or other settings of the user account with the single sign-on provider. Depending on the single sign-on provider and the choice of users, this can be various data, usually the e-mail address and the username. The password entered at the single sign-on provider within the framework of the single sign-on procedure is neither viewable nor stored by us.
Users are asked to note that their data stored by us can be automatically matched with their user account at the single sign-on provider, but this is not always possible or actually carried out. If, for example, the e-mail addresses of the users change, they must change them manually in their user account with us.
We can use the single sign-on login, if agreed with the users, within the framework of or prior to the fulfillment of the contract, insofar as users have been asked to do so, process it within the framework of consent, and otherwise use it on the basis of our legitimate interests and the interests of the users in an effective and secure login system.
If users ever decide not to use the link of their user account with the single sign-on provider for the single sign-on procedure anymore, they must cancel this connection within their user account with the single sign-on provider. If users want to delete their data with us, they must terminate their registration with us.

Newsletters and Electronic Notifications
We send newsletters, e-mails, and other electronic notifications (hereinafter "newsletters") exclusively with the consent of the recipients or on a legal basis. If the contents of a newsletter are specified in the context of a registration for it, these contents are decisive for the consent of the users. Registering for our newsletter normally requires the provision of your e-mail address. However, to offer you a personalized service, we may ask for your name for a personal address in the newsletter or further information if this is necessary for the purpose of the newsletter.
Deletion and Restriction of Processing: We may store unsubscribed e-mail addresses for up to three years on the basis of our legitimate interests before deleting them, in order to be able to prove consent given in the past. The processing of this data is limited to the purpose of potential defense against claims. An individual deletion request is possible at any time, provided the former existence of a consent is confirmed at the same time. In the case of obligations to permanently observe objections, we reserve the right to store the e-mail address solely for this purpose in a blocklist (so-called "blocklist").
The logging of the registration procedure takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests for the purpose of proving its proper execution. Insofar as we commission a service provider with the sending of e-mails, this is done on the basis of our legitimate interests in an efficient and secure dispatch system.

Web Analytics, Monitoring, and Optimization
Web analytics (also referred to as "reach measurement") is used to evaluate visitor flows of our online offer and can include behavior, interests, or demographic information about visitors, such as age or gender, as pseudonymous values. With the help of reach analysis, we can recognize, for example, at what time our online offer or its functions or contents are used most frequently or invite re-use. Likewise, it enables us to trace which areas require optimization.
In addition to web analytics, we can also use test procedures to test and optimize different versions of our online offer or its components.
Unless otherwise stated below, profiles—i.e., data summarized for a usage process—can be created for these purposes, and information can be stored in a browser or on an end device and then read out. The information collected includes, in particular, visited websites and elements used there, as well as technical information such as the browser used, the computer system used, and information on usage times. If users have agreed to the collection of their location data vis-à-vis us or the providers of the services we use, the processing of location data is also possible.
Furthermore, the IP addresses of the users are stored. However, we use an IP masking procedure (i.e., pseudonymization by shortening the IP address) for user protection. In general, no plain data of users (such as e-mail addresses or names) is stored in the context of web analytics, A/B testing, and optimization, but pseudonyms. That means neither we nor the providers of the software used know the actual identity of the users, but only the information stored in their profiles for the purpose of the respective procedures.
Notes on legal bases: If we ask users for their consent to the use of third-party providers, the legal basis for data processing is consent. Otherwise, user data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e., interest in efficient, economical, and recipient-friendly services). In this context, we would also like to refer you to the information on the use of cookies in this privacy policy.
-
Processed Data Types: Usage data (e.g., page views and time spent, click paths, usage intensity and frequency, device types and operating systems used, interactions with content and functions); Meta, communication, and procedural data (e.g., IP addresses, time stamps, identification numbers, involved persons).
-

-
Retention and Deletion: Deletion in accordance with specifications in the section "General Information on Data Retention and Deletion". Storage of cookies for up to 2 years (Unless otherwise stated, cookies and similar storage methods can be stored on users' devices for a period of two years.).

Shopify Analytics: We use the internal analysis functions of our e-commerce platform Shopify to statistically evaluate visitor behavior in our shop (e.g., page views, visitor numbers, bounce rates). This serves to optimize our online offer and troubleshoot errors; Service Provider: Shopify International Limited, Victoria Buildings, 2nd Floor, 1-2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, D04 XN32, Ireland; Legal Bases: Legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. f GDPR); Website: https://www.shopify.com/de/; Privacy Policy: https://www.shopify.com/de/legal/datenschutz.
Online Marketing
We process personal data for the purpose of online marketing, which can include in particular the marketing of advertising space or the display of advertising and other content (collectively referred to as "content") based on potential interests of users as well as the measurement of its effectiveness.
For these purposes, so-called user profiles are created and stored in a file (the so-called "cookie") or similar procedures are used, by means of which the information relevant to the display of the aforementioned content regarding the user is stored. This can include, for example, content viewed, websites visited, online networks used, but also communication partners and technical information such as the browser used, the computer system used, and information on usage times and used functions. If users have consented to the collection of their location data, this can also be processed.
In addition, the IP addresses of the users are stored. However, we use available IP masking procedures (i.e., pseudonymization by shortening the IP address) for user protection. In general, no plain data of users (such as e-mail addresses or names) is stored within the scope of online marketing procedures, but pseudonyms. This means that neither we nor the providers of the online marketing procedures know the actual user identity, but only the information stored in their profiles.
The statements in the profiles are usually stored in cookies or by means of similar procedures. These cookies can later generally also be read out on other websites that use the same online marketing procedure and analyzed for the purpose of displaying content and supplemented with further data and stored on the server of the online marketing procedure provider.
In exceptional cases, it is possible to assign plain data to the profiles, primarily if the users are, for example, members of a social network whose online marketing procedure we use and the network connects the user profiles with the aforementioned data. We ask you to note that users can make additional agreements with the providers, e.g., by consent during registration.
We generally only receive access to summarized information about the success of our advertisements. However, in the context of so-called conversion measurements, we can check which of our online marketing procedures has led to a so-called conversion, i.e., for example, a contract conclusion with us. Conversion measurement is used solely for success analysis of our marketing measures.
Unless otherwise stated, please assume that cookies used are stored for a period of two years.
Notes on Legal Bases: If we ask users for their consent to the use of third-party providers, the legal basis for data processing is permission. Otherwise, user data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e., interest in efficient, economical, and recipient-friendly services). In this context, we would also like to refer you to the information on the use of cookies in this privacy policy.
Notes on Revocation and Objection: We refer to the privacy notices of the respective providers and the objection options stated with the providers (so-called "opt-out"). If no explicit opt-out option has been specified, you have the option on the one hand to switch off cookies in your browser settings. However, this can restrict the functions of our online offer. We therefore additionally recommend the following opt-out options, which are offered collectively targeted to respective regions: a) Europe: https://youronlinechoices.eu/ b) Canada: https://youradchoices.ca/ c) USA: https://optout.aboutads.info/ d) Cross-territory: https://optout.aboutads.info

This enables the provider Meta to determine visitors to our online offer as a target group for the display of ads (so-called "Facebook Ads" or "Instagram Ads"). We use the Meta Pixel to display the ads placed by us only to those users who have also shown an interest in our online offer. With the help of the Meta Pixel, we can also trace the effectiveness of the ads for statistical purposes (so-called "conversion measurement"). Data transmission takes place partly server-side via Shopify integration; Service Provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Irland; Legal Bases: Consent (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a GDPR); Website: https://www.facebook.com; Privacy Policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/; Basis for Third-Country Transfers: Data Privacy Framework (DPF).

Presences in Social Networks (Social Media)
We maintain online presences within social networks and process user data in this context in order to communicate with active users there or to offer information about us.
We point out that user data can be processed outside the space of the European Union. This can result in risks for users, for example because the enforcement of user rights could be made more difficult.
Furthermore, data of users within social networks is usually processed for market research and advertising purposes. Thus, usage profiles can be created based on user behavior and resulting interests of users. The latter may in turn be used, for example, to switch advertisements inside and outside the networks that presumably correspond to the interests of the users. For this purpose, cookies are usually stored on the computers of the users, in which the usage behavior and interests of the users are stored. In addition, data can also be stored in the usage profiles independently of the devices used by the users (especially if they are members of the respective platforms and logged in there).
For a detailed presentation of the respective processing forms and objection options (opt-out), we refer to the data protection declarations and information of the operators of the respective networks.
Also in the case of information requests and the assertion of data subject rights, we point out that these can be most effectively asserted with the providers. Only the latter have access to the user data in each case and can directly take corresponding measures and provide information. Should you still need help, you can contact us.

Plug-ins and Embedded Functions as well as Content
We integrate functional and content elements into our online offer that are obtained from the servers of their respective providers (hereinafter referred to as "third-party providers"). This can be, for example, graphics, videos, or city maps (hereinafter uniformly referred to as "content").
The integration always presupposes that the third-party providers of this content process the IP address of the users, since they could not send the content to their browser without the IP address. The IP address is therefore required for the display of this content or functions. We endeavor to use only such content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of the content. Third-party providers can also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also referred to as "web beacons") for statistical or marketing purposes. Through "pixel tags", information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website can be evaluated. The pseudonymous information can furthermore be stored in cookies on the device of the users and can contain technical information about the browser and operating system, referring websites, visit time, and further details on the use of our online offer, as well as being connected with such information from other sources.

Definitions of Terms
This section gives you an overview of the terms used in this privacy policy. Insofar as the terms are legally defined, their legal definitions apply. The following explanations are primarily intended for understanding.
-
Master Data (Inventory data): Master data encompasses essential information that is necessary for the identification and management of contractual partners, user accounts, profiles, and similar assignments. This data can include personal and demographic details such as names, contact information (addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses), birth dates, and specific identifiers (user IDs). Master data forms the basis for any formal interaction between persons and services, institutions, or systems by enabling clear assignment and communication.
-
Content Data: Content data encompasses information generated in the course of creating, editing, and publishing content of all kinds. This category of data can include texts, images, videos, audio files, and other multimedia content published on various platforms and media. Content data is not restricted to the actual content, but also includes metadata that provides information about the content itself, such as tags, descriptions, author information, and publication dates.
-
Contact Data: Contact data is essential information that enables communication with persons or organizations. It includes phone numbers, postal addresses, and e-mail addresses, as well as means of communication such as social media handles and instant messaging identifiers.
-
Conversion Measurement: Conversion measurement (also referred to as "visitor action evaluation") is a procedure with which the effectiveness of marketing measures can be determined. For this purpose, a cookie is usually stored on users' devices within the websites where the marketing measures take place and then retrieved again on the target website. For example, we can trace whether ads placed by us on other websites were successful.
-
Meta, Communication, and Procedural Data: Meta, communication, and procedural data are categories containing information about the way data is processed, transmitted, and managed. Metadata, also known as data about data, includes information describing the context, origin, and structure of other data. It can contain details on file size, creation date, author of a document, and change histories. Communication data records the exchange of information between users over various channels, such as e-mail traffic, call logs, messages in social networks, and chat histories, including the persons involved, timestamps, and transmission paths. Procedural data describes the processes and workflows within systems or organizations, including workflow documentation, logs of transactions and activities, as well as audit logs used to track and review operations.
-
Usage Data: Usage data refers to information capturing how users interact with digital products, services, or platforms. This data encompasses a wide range of information showing how users use applications, which functions they prefer, how long they stay on certain pages, and through which paths they navigate through an application. Usage data can also include frequency of use, activity timestamps, IP addresses, device information, and location data. They are particularly valuable for analyzing user behavior, optimizing user experiences, personalizing content, and improving products or services. In addition, usage data plays a crucial role in recognizing trends, preferences, and potential problem areas within digital offers.
-
Personal Data: "Personal data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter "data subject"); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier (e.g., cookie) or to one or more specific factors expressive of the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity of that natural person.
-
Profiles with User-Related Information: The processing of "profiles with user-related information", or "profiles" for short, comprises any kind of automated processing of personal data consisting of using these personal data to analyze, evaluate, or predict certain personal aspects relating to a natural person (depending on the type of profiling, this can include various information concerning demography, behavior, and interests, such as interaction with websites and their contents, etc.). Cookies and web beacons are frequently used for profiling purposes.
-
Log Data: Log data is information about events or activities logged in a system or network. This data typically contains information such as timestamps, IP addresses, user actions, error messages, and other details about the use or operation of a system. Log data is often used to analyze system problems, for security monitoring, or to create performance reports.
-
Reach Measurement: Reach measurement (also referred to as web analytics) serves to evaluate visitor flows of an online offer and can include the behavior or interests of visitors in certain information, such as contents of websites. With the help of reach analysis, operators of online offers can recognize, for example, at what time users visit their websites and which contents they are interested in. As a result, they can better adapt the contents of the websites to the needs of their visitors. Pseudonymous cookies and web beacons are frequently used for reach analysis purposes to recognize returning visitors and thus obtain more accurate analyses on the use of an online offer.
-
Server Monitoring and Error Detection: With the help of server monitoring and error detection, we ensure the availability and integrity of our online offer and use the processed data to technically optimize our online offer. Processed are performance, utilization, and comparable technical values that provide information about stability and any anomalies of our online offer. In the event of errors and anomalies, individual requests of users of our online offer are recorded to identify and resolve sources of problems.
-
Tracking: "Tracking" occurs when the behavior of users can be traced across multiple online offers. As a rule, behavior and interest information regarding the used online offers is stored in cookies or on servers of the providers of tracking technologies (so-called profiling). This information can then be used, for example, to display advertisements to users that presumably correspond to their interests.
-
Controller: "Controller" means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
-
Processing: "Processing" is any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means. The term is broad and covers practically any handling of data, be it collection, evaluation, storage, transmission, or deletion.
-
Contract Data: Contract data is specific information relating to the formalization of an agreement between two or more parties. They document the conditions under which services or products are provided, exchanged, or sold. This data category is essential for the management and fulfillment of contractual obligations and includes both the identification of the contracting parties and the specific terms and conditions of the agreement. Contract data can include start and end dates of the contract, the type of agreed services or products, price agreements, payment terms, termination rights, renewal options, and special conditions or clauses. They serve as the legal basis for the relationship between the parties and are crucial for clarifying rights and duties, enforcing claims, and resolving disputes.
-
Payment Data: Payment data encompasses all information required to process payment transactions between buyers and sellers. This data is of crucial importance for electronic commerce, online banking, and any other form of financial transaction. They contain details such as credit card numbers, bank details, payment amounts, transaction data, verification numbers, and billing information. Payment data can also contain information on payment status, chargebacks, authorizations, and fees.
-
Target Group Formation: Custom Audiences occur when target groups are determined for advertising purposes, e.g., display of advertisements. Thus, it can be concluded, for example, based on a user's interest in certain products or topics on the internet, that this user is interested in advertisements for similar products or the online shop where they viewed the products. "Custom Audiences" (or similar target groups) in turn occur when content deemed suitable is displayed to users whose profiles or interests presumably correspond to the users for whom the profiles were created. Cookies and web beacons are generally used for the purposes of forming custom audiences and lookalike audiences.
